If you’ve ever moved home, you’ll know that it can be one of the most stressful times in your life. You could be a highly organised individual, but with so many things to consider and sort out, it’s easy to be left feeling a little bit worn out through the process. Thankfully though, we’ve put together a list of important considerations that you should make.
How will you stock your kitchen cupboards?
Most people avoid buying too many groceries just before moving house, to avoid having to transport it all. But when you first move into your new property, the last thing you’ll want to do is hit the supermarket. For this reason, it’s worth doing an online food shop in advance, which will arrive on the day you move in. Alternatively, you could plan to order a takeaway to celebrate your new home!
How will you choose the right removals company?
There will probably be several removals firms in your local area, so make sure that you shop around not only for the best deals, but for the most reliable company. Cheap isn’t always best when it comes to taking care of your personal belongings. Ask friends and family members about their experiences, and do some online research. Just Googling a term such as ‘Plymouth removals’ should bring up plenty of information and options.
When is the best time for you to move?
Timing is important when it comes to moving house. For the least stressful option, go for off-peak times such as mid-week. Not only will there be less to worry about in terms of traffic, you might also get a cheaper rate from your removals company. It’s all about the basic rules of supply and demand.
Who will look after your children and pets on the day?
Having small children and animals under your feet on moving day is a recipe for disaster. If possible, arrange for family members to take care of your children and pets. Otherwise, consider using a child minder or kennel service. It will be much less stressful, and it will also be a lot safer.
If you have these important things ticked off, you should find that moving house becomes a lot less painful.
